How Bail Works
Bail bonds work as a way for someone to get out of jail before their court date if they can't afford the full bail amount. A bail bond company pays the bail on behalf of the person in jail, charging a non-refundable fee, typically around 10% of the total bail amount. If the person shows up to all court hearings, the bail is returned to the bond company, but if they skip court, the bond company can send a bounty hunter to find them and bring them back. Bail Bonds are nonrefundable.
